Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an analytical evidence-based approach to changing patterns of thought that are not beneficial and is the perfect remedy for anxiety which this tool is centered around.

Anxiety is the feeling of unease and fear that you get in response to certain situations. It’s a necessary part of human biology alarming us of possible danger and pushing us into action to remain safe.

The problem is that the brain is a sophisticated system vulnerable to malfunction. A popular manifestation of this is anxiety no longer working in our favor and instead of keeping us alive - keeping us from living.

The beneficial system is replaced by a genius liar and impersonator of your mind with ill intent often manifesting as excessive worrying about the future or regretting the past. It can manifest in many ways, such as stress, sweating, an increased heartbeat, and avoidance of certain situations.

The longer a malfunction goes unaddressed, the worse it gets.

It is estimated that more than 30% of adults experience any anxiety disorder at some point in their life. That’s nearly 1 out of 3 people - you are not a lesser person if you happen to be one of them.

The bad news is that issues of anxiety will never leave if they are constantly ignored. The good news is that they can be eradicated or at least significantly reduced by attacking them head-on.

Imagine a person going for a drive and noticing that their car is slightly pulling to one side. It doesn't seem like a big issue, so they ignore it and continue driving. Over time, the problem gradually worsens, but the changes are so small that they're difficult to detect. Eventually, what started as a minor issue, becomes a significant problem and ends up causing a loss of control on the highway.

Had the person addressed the issue straight away, it might have been possible to fix it by themselves. If not - a visit to the mechanic would have been necessary.

Your mind is the vehicle that you are responsible for, a licensed therapist is a mechanic, and this is the tool that you can use to address the problems yourself or use in combination with regular therapy sessions if the issues have grown too big.
